The Foundry

Manufacturing Brass Belt buckles

The foundry consists of a Furnace, Sand, Linishing Belts, a Moulding Box and the Polishing Machine. The mould for a buckle is made in the sand.

Brass is heated to approximately 1700F where it melts; bronze is heated to 1985F. Once the metal has melted, it is poured into the mould. It is then cooled down and separated from the sand.

Finally the buckle is linished with sanding belts and files and then polished to a smooth finish on a polishing buff, ready to be fitted onto the belt.
